A long-term care worker has become the first in the region today to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
A nurse will the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) administered the first vaccine at 9:45 this morning to Lori Black, who works at Victoria Village long-term care home in Barrie.
She is among the first priority group to be immunized by invitation only in the first phase of the roll out at the COVID-19 Immunization Clinic.
The vaccine will not be broadly available to the general public until sometime later in 2021.
