
A 35-year-old Dufferin County man has been charged with attempted murder and arson in relation to a fire in Southgate earlier this month.
Grey Bruce OPP say their officers were called to a suspicious fire at a residence on Southgate Road 24 on December 11.
Police say members from the Dundalk Fire Department attended the scene and confirmed the blaze was deliberately set.
According to police, there were people inside the residence at the time.
Grey Bruce OPP say a lengthy investigation was completed, with assistance from the Mount Forest Forensic Identification Services and the Grey Bruce Crime Unit.
As a result, 35-year-old Benjamin Komisar from Grand Valley has been charged with two counts of attempt to commit murder, two counts of arson and a charge of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
Police say the accused was remanded into custody, following a bail hearing on Dec. 14.
