Collingwood’s Art of Winter Festival is underway.
You can discover all the ways in your community to embrace the season as a snowy canvas for creativity, activity, and connectivity, both online and at multiple outdoor locations.
Residents can pick up or download the Art of Winter passport containing more than 40 self-directed, socially-distanced activities for all ages and abilities available to do at your own pace.
“To encourage residents to stay active and creative outdoors, even in the winter months, while still supporting all current public health recommendations, this Art of Winter Festival is being hosted over an 8-week period at multiple outdoor locations and is designed to be done on your own time, with your own household”, explains Manager of Culture & Events, Karen Cubitt. “Our intention is to make this a local festival and to discourage physical gatherings typically associated with special events by spreading people out over time and distance.”
The 40+ activities are divided into five themes. These are:
- Acts of Random Kindness
- Multi-Generational Fun
- Reflection & Contemplation
- Active Experiences
- Culture & History
Each category has an assigned activity hub – an outdoor location within the community where several of the themed activities are supported with extra resources and information on site. However, there are lots of activities within each theme that are designed to do offsite and at your own home too, all of which are marked on the Art of Winter Activity Passport.
Passports can be downloaded on the event website or picked up at the following locations.
Downtown at:
Town Hall (97 Hurontario Street)
The Collingwood Museum (45 St. Paul Street)
The Collingwood Public Library (55 Ste. Marie Street)
Or at these additional Activity Hubs:
Awen’ Gathering Place & Arboretum (north end of Cedar or Hickory Streets)
Harbourview Park East (north end of Birch Street)
Central Park (85 Paterson Street)
