Some new relief is on the way to help Ontario residents weather electricity costs during the lockdown.
Today Premier Doug Ford pledged a new discounted off-peak hydro rate of 8.5 cents per kW hour for both time-of-use and tiered customers.
It’s lower than the temporary rate introduced during the first wave. It will start January 1st.
“Because after months of this pandemic we know people need that extra help – especially during winter,” said the Premier.
The Province also announced an expansion of the Support for Learners program.
Parents of high school students are now eligible for one-time payments of $200 per child for laptops, workbooks and other educational learning supplies.
Between January 11th and February 8th they can apply at Ontario.ca/supportforlearners
Starting Jan 1 2021, we're holding electricity prices to the off-peak rate of 8.5c/kWh for all TOU & tiered customers during this provincial lockdown.
