Temperatures are forecasted to be higher than normal for Huron County this winter.
The winter season begins Monday, and Environment Canada Senior Climatologist David Phillips says the region can expect more up and down temperatures.
“We’re going to see milder than normal conditions, and we see that stretching into late January, February.”
While a warmer Lake Huron could produce more precipitation over Huron County this winter, Phillips says it could come in either snow or rain.
Phillips tells Country 104.9 News there should be enough snowfall to satisfy snowmobilers and outdoor recreation enthusiasts, with temperatures warm enough to appease those who dislike the frigid cold.
As for whether Huron County will have a white Christmas, Phillips says it could happen.
Ontario’s West Coast has had a green Christmas the last two years, and Phillips expects that could change for the 2020 holiday.
