The Good Cheer outdoor skating rink at Harrison Park in Owen Sound is now open.
City officials say users are being asked to follow recommendations while using the rink for the 2020-21 outdoor skating season, to ensure everyone’s safety during the ongoing pandemic.
There is a maximum of 25 people permitted on the ice at any one time. Face covering use is recommended. Rink users are expected to wash or sanitize hands before and after using the outdoor ice surface.
City officials say nets are not being provided at the rink and there is no physical contact permitted when playing shinny.
The Harrison Park Good Cheer Rink follows the H.O.S.E. rule to allow enjoyment for all. That is: hockey on odd calendar days and skating on even calendar days.
The outdoor rink at Harrison Park was built in 2005 through the generous donations and fundraising efforts of the Scenic City Order of Good Cheer, at a cost of $215,000.
