The Director of Education for the Avon Maitland District School Board is preparing parents for the possibility of a move to online learning, following the Christmas break.
In a letter to parents and guardians, Dr. Lisa Walsh says Education Minister Stephen Lecce has advised school boards that they need to ensure staff and students are prepared for a potential return to full online learning in January.
While the decision to switch exclusively to online learning in 2021 has not been made, Walsh says families need to make preparations.
For grades K to 6 students, families can pick up their requested technology from their home school on Monday, January 4th, with classes to begin Tuesday, January 5th.
Students in grade 7 to 12 will also begin classes Tuesday, January 5th.
Dr. Walsh adds, “Please remember that these details are simply to help us prepare, and at this time, we have NOT been directed to move to full online learning (Model C). We understand that this will significantly impact family routines and as soon as we are informed by Minister Lecce or Premier Ford, we will share the information with you, so that you can fully prepare.”
