A Covid-19 Immunization Clinic is expected to open in Barrie next week to start immunizing area healthcare workers. The exact date depends on delivery of the vaccine.
The centre will be located in the current RVH Covid-19 Testing and Assessment Centre on Sperling Drive and will serve all of Simcoe County and the District of Muskoka.
Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit nurses will administer the vaccine to a limited number of prioritized people starting with long-term care health care workers.
The hospital says the number of vaccine doses it will receive is not confirmed yet.
There are two freezers available to properly store the vaccine.
The vaccine will not be broadly available to the general public until sometime in 2021 and it is expected it will take another six to nine months to immunize all Ontarians who decide to get the vaccine.
