A police officer was almost hit by a suspected impaired driver on the 400 in Tay Township.
OPP say the officer was out of his vehicle conducting a traffic stop just after 5 o’clock last evening when he was nearly struck by a vehicle that was swerving on the road.
The officer followed the vehicle and found it stuck in the snow in the centre median of the highway, a short distance away.
Police say the driver was trying to free the vehicle when the officer approached and he detected signs of impairment.
The driver was transported to the detachment to be evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert.
A 55 year old woman from Jacksons Point has been charged.
