A new secondary school in Barrie has been named.
Trustees with the Simcoe County District School Board approved it yesterday. It’s going to be called Maple Ridge Secondary School.
Over 500 name submissions were received which were then reviewed by a school naming committee comprised of parents/guardians, students, the school trustee, a member of Barrie Council and one community member.
Students coming from the Hewitt’s Creek Public School, Hyde Park Public School and Algonquin Ridge ES attendance areas will attend Maple Ridge Secondary.
The new school will welcome Grade 9 and 10 students beginning the next school year.
