By the end of 2021’s first quarter, it’s expected Ontario will have received enough doses to vaccinate roughly 1.2 million people.
The priority at first is to vaccinate the most vulnerable and frontline healthcare workers and Ontario Covid-19 Task Force Leader General Rick Hillier says there are roughly 1.4 million people in these categories here.
He says the Province’s ability to vaccinate others beyond that will depend on how fast more doses arrive.
“And once we get enough to get past the long term care homes we will roll out mass vaccination sites potentially across Ontario to ensure we can do the job as effectively as possible,” he said.
In the short term, Ontario awaits the newly announced Moderna vaccine.
It too will go first to places like long term care facilities in current Ontario hot zones.
