Public Health Grey Bruce says eight new cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the region Thursday (Dec 10).
Two are in Saugeen Shores, two in Grey Highlands, and one each in Brockton, South Bruce, Southgate and Arran Elderslie.
With four recoveries Thursday, there are 30 confirmed active cases and five active probable cases. (Probable cases are not lab confirmed, but are symptomatic and are high-risk contacts of an active case).
The Health Unit says there are 203 High Risk Contacts associated with active cases.
Four cases are currently hospitalized. No one has died locally from the virus.
Public Health says there are no active outbreaks in long-term care homes, retirement homes, schools or daycares in Grey Bruce.
The Health Unit says it is working with Inglenook Creche Childcare Centre to address a probable case of COVID-19 associated with a cohort at the centre in Owen Sound.
They say their assessment to date indicates transmission did not take place within the childcare centre environment.
They are also working with the Bluewater District School Board to address two probable cases of COVID-19
associated with Port Elgin-Saugeen Central School.
Public Health says its assessment there indicates transmission did not take place within the school environment.
They say no bus routes of any schools are involved with this case.
Public Health says they will contact you if you have had close contact with someone who has COVID-19, based on a thorough risk assessment. They say determining who has had close contact is a decision that can only be made by Public Health. They add, those not contacted by Public Health need not take any additional steps including asymptomatic testing.
