Huron County’s new Warden says he’s looking to continue projects started by his predecessor.
Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Mayor Glen McNeil was elected as the county’s Warden for 2021-2022 last Wednesday, replacing former Warden Jim Ginn.
McNeil tells Country 104.9 News he plans to continue pushing for broadband internet in the far stretches of Huron County, something started by Ginn during his four year tenure as Warden.
Homelessness is another issue McNeil says will continue to be addressed by county officials.
Huron County expanded the “Out of the Cold” homeless winter shelter for 2020, returning the program to Goderich’s Lakeshore United Church.
Affordable housing, and more abundant housing are issues McNeil would also like to continue addressing in the coming years — goals he describes as long-term.
In the short-term, McNeil says the critical issue is “getting through the pressures of [COVID-19], and the risks.”
