An expansion of the Brockton Child Care Centre at St Teresa of Calcutta Catholic School in Walkerton is complete.
The $1.6-million project provides additional space to support new toddler and preschool rooms, creating 39 new childcare spaces. The Ministry of Education funded the expansion.
Officials from the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board, Municipality of Brockton and Bruce County marked the official opening of the new addition on Friday.
Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson was also on hand for the ceremony.
Brockton Mayor Chris Peabody says the expansion will allow the waitlist to be reduced and allow more local families to access childcare.
“I’m thrilled to announce the opening of these new classrooms. The Municipality is grateful for the support from the Province, the County of Bruce and the continuing partnership with the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board to make this happen,” Peabody says in a statement. “I would like to extend special thanks to MPP Lisa Thompson and Premier Doug Ford for their support.”
