The first of two Santa Claus Parades in Saugeen Shores this holiday season is set for Saturday night.
Similar to St. Nick’s big event in Owen Sound, Saugeen Shores is holding stationary parades. Instead of lining the streets and waiting for floats to pass by, parade-goers will drive past a static set up.
The Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce advises Saturday night’s parade is in Port Elgin on Bruce Street, starting at 7 p.m. Vehicles attending will enter at Devonshire Road and exit at Joseph Street.
Another Santa Claus Parade is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 4 in Southampton.
The Chamber reminds, due to health and safety, no pedestrian spectators will be allowed for these drive-thru only events.
A mailbox for letters to Santa will be on hand and Thorncrest Outfitters will be collecting donations to the local food bank.
The Saugeen Shores Santa Claus Committee is comprised of representatives from the Events Resource Centre, Chantry Seniors Centre, Marine Heritage Society and Propeller Club, Port Elgin BIA, Port Elgin Pumpkinfest, Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce and Southampton BIA.
Meantime, Markdale will be holding a drive-thru Santa Claus Parade this afternoon from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. It will be located at the Markdale Public Arena.
