The Grey Bruce Health Unit reported 16 additional recoveries and 10 new Covid cases in the region on Friday.
According to Public Health, two Kincardine residents, two from Arran-Elderslie, two from West Grey, two from Grey Highlands, one person from Owen Sound and one from Southgate tested positive.
Grey Bruce Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Arra says four of the 10 cases came from two households. At least three of the new positives are close contacts of previous known cases already being monitored by Public Health.
Active known cases in Grey Bruce fell to 49, as recoveries outpaced new infections on Friday. Three people are currently hospitalized.
Over the course of the pandemic, there have not been any deaths attributed to Covid in Grey Bruce.
Meantime, the Grey Bruce Health Unit issued a statement saying it is working proactively with Glad Tidings School in Tara. School officials closed the facility Friday out of an abundance of caution because of a symptomatic individual.
According to Public Health, there has not been a Covid case identified at the school and there is no evidence of transmission within the school environment.
“There are no outbreaks; that is, evidence of transmission from person to person, in any schools or childcare centres, in Grey Bruce,” a release from Public Health explains.
Golden Dawn Senior Citizen Home remains in outbreak after a Covid case associated with a staff member.
Thirty-three out of 37 resident swabs have already come back negative for Covid at the long-term care and retirement facility.
