A 25-year-old Barrie man faces charges after a convenience store robbery and assault in Orillia.
Shortly after 2 am today police were called to a convenience store on Westmount Road.
There they learned a suspect had fled with a small amount of Canadian currency and lottery tickets after robbing the store.
The K-9 Unit was called in, but the suspect couldn’t be located initially.
Two hours later, police were called to a parking lot on Colbourne Street where an individual suffered serious injuries after being assaulted with a weapon.
While he was being helped by paramedics, police learned he’d been assaulted by the same individual wanted for the robbery.
The Barrie suspect has now been charged with robbery with a weapon and failing to comply with probation.
He has a January 19th court date scheduled in Orillia.
