Two online forums are being held this week to talk about human trafficking and the two years of work that’s been done locally to combat it.
Violence Prevention Grey Bruce is hosting the event which features Karly Church and Kaitlin Bick who are both survivors of human trafficking and anti-trafficking advocates.
They’ll talk about the realities of human trafficking, the work they do now in their communities and the importance of using a trauma informed approach when helping other survivors.
The forum is open to the public and begins at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 25th.
The event will be broadcast live on Violence Prevention Grey Bruce’s Facebook page, Youtube channel, and on website. It will also be posted online afterwards.
A second, half-day forum for people who work in the community is set for Thursday November 26th, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This second forum requires registration on Violence Prevention Grey Bruce’s Website. Coordinator Jon Farmer says so far, about 200 people have registered for the Service Providers forum.
Violence Prevention Grey Bruce says parental discretion is advised when considering whether to watch with children.
