Canada is facing a winter that’s going to drive people inside more and more.
That from PM Justin Trudeau today who painted a picture of overwhelmed hospitals and more loved ones dying.
Trudeau says we need to do everything we can to stop the spike in cases that’s happening currently during the Second Wave.
“We need to reduce our contacts – we need to do it right now,” he said.
Trudeau says we shouldn’t do things like gather with friends or celebrate birthdays together and that protecting our health is the best thing we can do for the economy.
He also again urged everyone to download the Covid-19 Alert App, wear a mask and practice social distancing.
What happens at Christmas depends on our actions right now, he added. He said we all want as normal a Christmas as is possible, but a normal one, he said, is “right out of the question.”
Don’t travel if you don’t have to, he said.
“Don’t leave your homes if you don’t have to,” he stressed, adding that he is not enacting the Federal Emergencies Act.
The Wage Subsidy has been extended until June 2021 to protect jobs and today the Prime Minister announced over $120 million for areas like Saskatchewan and Manitoba to help people keep safe.
We’ve just seen the latest projections from Dr. Tam and Dr. Njoo. The situation is serious. Tune in to my Friday update for the latest COVID-19 developments: https://t.co/ostwzEAfL9
