The Province is sending in reinforcements to help people in a mental health crisis.
Today Premier Doug Ford announced that Ontario will invest over $37 million to hire more staff, create tailored programs for First Nations communities and expand mobile crisis teams across the Province.
“These are specialized teams that bring together police officers, mental health workers and other First Responders,” said Ford, “To handle mental health emergencies and assist people with severe mental illness.”
The investment will be reflected in 33 communities Province-wide and may mean a patient won’t have to tell their story two or three times without getting help and that a first responder will be standing ready to help them.
