Today Premier Doug Ford said he’s giving municipalities the flexibility to provide property tax relief to small businesses.
He says it will make a huge difference for small business owners as they battle the economic effects of the Covid-19 virus.
“Starting in 2021, we’ll allow municipalities to provide a property tax reduction to their small businesses,” said Ford. “And our government will consider matching those municipal reductions to further reduce taxes on our small businesses.”
Ford says the move could provide Ontario’s collective small businesses with municipal and provincial property tax relief to the tune of $385 million by 2022.
