Owen Sound’s soup kitchen, OSHaRE will be better prepared for the winter thanks to help from a local developer.
Barry’s Construction has been working to make the space ‘COVID-19 safe’ this past week by doing interior renovations in order to allow people to pick up food inside the building.
A Facebook post from OSHaRE says guests will not have to wait in the cold and snow to get their take-out meals this winter.
OSHaRE is currently serving take-out only due to the pandemic, and the organization says it saw a 300 per cent increase in meals being served in March, April and May.
The organization says it’s, “Thankful for the amazing work, time and effort being taken by the crew from Barry’s Construction to make our space winter-ready.”
OSHaRE notes it is still open to guests for takeout during the renovation.
Last January, OSHaRE celebrated a move to its new, much bigger location at 946 3rd Avenue East in downtown Owen Sound. The organization was also assisted by local contractors and organizations at that time.
OSHaRE serves meals from Monday to Friday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Lunch to go on Saturdays & Stat Holidays from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
