Joe Biden has defeated Donald Trump in the United States presidential race.
The Associated Press and major U.S. networks called the race just prior to 11:30 a.m. this morning after projecting Biden the winner in Pennsylvania, pushing the Democrat nominee past the 270 electoral college vote threshold.
Biden has yet to make a public address following the race call. But, he did take to Twitter to say “America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country. The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not. I will keep the faith that you have placed in me.”
The Trump campaign, meanwhile, issued a statement vowing their case will start to be prosecuted in court Monday to “ensure election laws are fully upheld and the rightful winner is seated.”
“The simple fact is this election is far from over,” the statement from Trump’s campaign reads. “Joe Biden has not been certified the winner of any states, let alone any of the highly contested states headed for mandatory recounts, or states our campaign valid and legitimate legal challenges that could determine the ultimate victor.”
