Premier Doug Ford says “it’s disgraceful and it’s disgusting!”
Ford has announced this morning that he will make it illegal for businesses in the province to prohibit employees from wearing poppies, after grocery store chain Whole Foods reportedly said it violated its staff uniform policy.
Doug Ford tweeted his anger by writing, “It’s disgusting and disgraceful that Whole Foods has banned poppies for their employees. We will always stand with our veterans. Whole Foods should apologize and immediately reverse this decision. Everyone should wear a poppy.”
He called a news conference a short time later, when Ford said, “We are going to introduce legislation immediately that permits any employee, any employee, no matter where you work and to wear a poppy and making sure that no employer can force someone not to wear a poppy.”
