Several Royal Canadian Legion branches in Bruce County have announced there won’t be public ceremonies for Remembrance Day this year.
Legion Branches Port Elgin 340, Southampton 155, Ripley 440 and Lucknow 309 are hosting only small private services on Nov. 11 to honour Canada’s veterans, with public events cancelled due to provincial gathering restrictions.
While there is no public attendance at the local Remembrance Day events, all of them will be broadcast or streamed online to allow people to support our veterans virtually.
The Southampton, Port Elgin, Ripley and Lucknow Remembrance Day services will be made available on the local legions’ Facebook pages
The City of Owen Sound also recently announced its annual Remembrance Day Service at the Owen Sound Cenotaph on Nov. 11 will not have any public attendance this year.
It will be broadcast live by several outlets, including on 560 CFOS.
