The Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation is launching its first ever online 50/50 lottery.
It aims to raise $510,000 for a new x-ray machine at the hospital in Southampton.
Executive Director Tracy Murray says with the loss of in-person fundraising events this year due to the pandemic, the foundation has shifted to virtual and online formats.
Four draws will take place over the course of the year.
The lottery opens today with the first draw set for December 22nd.
Tickets are only available online at saugeenshores5050.com
Murray says in a statement, “Our radiology department and x-ray technology can play a vital role in the care of not only emergency room patients but oncology, cardiology and surgical cases as well.”
Murray says the current machine has reached the end of its life at over 15 years old.
Murray adds, “Since the government does not fund the purchase of medical equipment for the hospital we rely on support from our community to ensure the hospital can stay up to date and continue to provide high quality care for all of our residents.”
