Grey Bruce OPP say quick acting emergency responders in Wiarton who administered Naloxone to a person who appeared to be overdosing managed to save their life.
Police say on Tuesday October 27th, OPP and South Bruce Peninsula firefighters were called for a person in medical crisis on Dawson Street.
Police say it was determined the person overdosed on suspected Fentanyl, at which time emergency services administered Naloxone, which was successful in reviving the patient, who was then transported to hospital by ambulance.
Police say if you suspect someone is overdosing or is in medical distress don’t delay, contact 9-1-1 immediately.
OPP are reminding everyone, Canada’s Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act provides protection from charges for individuals at the scene of a drug overdose for simple drug possession.
A statement from Grey Bruce OPP says, “Please don’t fear charges, stay at the scene and stay with a victim in the event of an overdose.”
