“We are very pleased to offer the South Georgian Bay community timely access to flu shots, in a safe manner, close to home, during this COVID-19 pandemic. This year, more than ever, it’s important to get a flu shot in order to protect yourself, your family and our community, as we all work to avoid any undue stress on our health care system,” says Dr. Harry O’Halloran, lead physician for the Georgian Bay Family Health Organization.
The drive-thru flu shot clinics will offer the regular flu vaccine to anyone 6 months of age or older. Limited supplies of high-dose flu shot are available through your physician’s office, or at some local pharmacies, for those who are 65 and older with certain chronic health conditions.
The flu shot will not protect against COVID-19, but it will help reduce your risk of getting the flu and COVID-19 at the same time. Having both illnesses at the same time can put individuals at a higher risk for severe illness.
