New life is coming to the southwest corner of Cameron Street and Highway 21, in Bayfield.
The Bayfield Centre for the Arts says the building will become the new site of their future facility, moving from their current offices on Main Street.
Centre President Leslee Squirrell says a significant financial gift is allowing the organization to purchase the lot.
“Mac Voisin and Marcela Bahar have graciously donated a significant financial gift allowing us to purchase the building.”
The BCA is a visual art centre that will provide for the education and practise of all visual arts, including new media, photography, painting, pottery, woodworking, glass, fibre arts, and many others, on one campus.
Squirrell says the donation will give the BCA the ability to craft a fundraising campaign throughout the winter, which she hopes to launch in the summer of 2021.
She tells Country 104.9 News it could be several years before the facility opens for operation.
Squirrell says the BCA is looking volunteers to assist with various positions, including public relations, and marketing, and anyone interested is invited to contact the BCA at Hello@bayfieldarts.ca.
