School bus cancellations have improved month-over-month in Huron and Perth counties, since the start of the school year.
Before the 2020-2021 academic year began, Huron Perth Student Transportation Services (HPSTS) were looking to hire an additional 40 school bus drivers to transport students to in-person classes.
At the latest meeting of the Avon Maitland District School Board, officials noted a decline in bus route cancellations between September and October.
In September, 198 routes were cancelled, compared to 39 in October, as of the October 27th meeting.
Parents are asked to have alternate transportation plans, in the event buses are not available in a given area, as schools will not be cancelled due to driver shortages.
