The Province has announced a new funding stream for local infrastructure projects.
Premier Doug Ford says applications are open for the Covid-19 Resilience Infrastructure Stream.
It will make more than $1 billion available for municipalities, long term care homes, schools, daycares and Indigenous communities and other sectors.
Outlining potential projects, he says it will also create hundreds of jobs and support local businesses and suppliers.
“The projects will vary depending on the need,” he said. “Projects like retrofits, repairs and upgrades for municipal buildings like fire halls and police stations. Improving ventilation and HVAC systems in long term care homes and schools. Making renovations that will improve physical distancing in shelters and recreation centres.”
Ford says the Province doesn’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to funding and that local communities know their needs best.
He’s also calling on the feds to make more money available for infrastructure projects.
