A man has been arrested on weapons charges in Orillia.
Police were called on Friday night about a group of young men walking near Victoria Park, and one of them was carrying a long gun.
Meanwhile, police say a second caller reported that four men ran out of a Coldwater Road residence and that one was carrying a rifle.
Officers arrived and took a 19 year old Scarborough man into custody who matched the suspect’s description. A gun was also seized.
He’s been charged with:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, contrary to Section 91(1) of the Criminal Code
- Careless Use of a Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition, contrary to Section 86(1) of the Criminal Code
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, contrary to Section 88 of the Criminal Code
The accused was held for a bail hearing and is to appear next on November 24, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Orillia.
