Public Health Grey Bruce says the number of people who are able to access local COVID-19 testing has gone up.
Medical Officer of Health Dr. Ian Arra says 98 per cent of respondents to a recent survey received a test (or an appointment) from their desired location, during the week of October 12th, which is up from 80 per cent the week of Sept 28th.
51 people took part in the survey, which was promoted on social media.
Arra says 87 per cent of respondents were able to receive testing the same day or by the next day, which is up from 60 per cent from the week of September 28th.
88 per cent of respondents received their test results within two days, up from 59 per cent the week of September 28th.
91 per cent of respondents left the assessment centre with information about isolation or how to obtain testing results, which is up from 88 per cent the week of September 28th.
Arra says overall feedback was very positive, including many positive comments about the staff at the assessment centres (friendly, kind, thorough, professional, etc.) and the efficiency of the service.
He says suggested areas for improvement included the suggestion of a drive-thru testing option and optional follow-up assessment of symptoms at Emergency Rooms. There were also a few mentions of wait-times even with pre-booked appointments.
