York Region is moving into a modified Stage 2 on Monday.
This afternoon Premier Doug Ford expressed concern for the region and its growing number of Covid-19 cases.
He says the modified Stage 2 there will last 28 days.
“We’re seeing a rapid increase in the rate of infection with the positivity rate of 2.77 per cent above the high alert threshold of 2.5 per cent,” said Ford. “Cases per 100,000 in York are now nearly 39, well above the Provincial average.”
Health Minister Christine Elliott says everything has to be done to avoid a very serious second wave in York Region.
The move came after extensive consultations with the Provincial health table.
