The free influenza vaccine is now available in Huron and Perth counties.
Huron Perth Public Health is encouraging all residents six months of age and over to receive this year’s flu shot, which will be available for priority populations at first.
HPPH says the vaccine will be widely available toward the end of October.
Officials say the influenza vaccine is especially important this year because COVID-19 is still circulating, and receiving the shot will help to manage healthcare resources in the region.
You can receive the free flu shot at your physicians office, pharmacy, and at Huron Perth Public Health clinics.
To help stop the spread of influenza in the community, HPPH advises all residents to continue to maintain physical distancing practices and:
– Wash hands with soap thoroughly and often
– Cough or sneeze into your sleeve
– Keep surfaces and items disinfected
– Stay home if you are sick
– Get the influenza vaccine
