More restrictions start Saturday in Ontario Covid-19 hotspots.
They’ll last for 28 days and will include closing indoor dining at restaurants and bars in Toronto, Peel Region and Ottawa.
Take-out and outdoor dining will continue, but casinos, gyms, cinemas and performing arts centres will also close in hot spots.
The Province also wants all Ontarians to start limiting trips outside the home except for essential ones to schools, grocery stores, outdoor physical activities and medical appointments.
Premier Doug Ford said the situation requires difficult decisions.
“In the last week the pandemic has picked up speed at an alarming rate,” he said. “My friends, the situation today is extremely serious – on September the first we had just over 110 new cases – five weeks later, today, we are at 939 new cases.”
limits of 10 people indoor and 25 outdoor will also be imposed for all organized events and gatherings, not just private social ones, in the hotspots.
Churches, schools and daycares aren’t affected by the new restrictions for now.
