Charities in Grey Bruce have access to a second round of funding to support their COVID-19 pandemic response.
$77,000 is available to the area’s organizations as part of an ongoing partnership with the United Way Centraide Canada and the Canadian Red Cross, funded through the federal goverment’s $350 million Emergency Community Support Fund (ECSF) which was announced back on April 21st.
The funding is being distributed with the aim of supporting vulnerable populations disproportionately affected by COVID-19.
In the first round of funding, Community Foundation Grey Bruce was awarded $192,770 for 10 organizations in the area.
Executive Director Stuart Reid says in a statement, “The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have been profoundly felt by vulnerable people in many communities across Grey Bruce,” he adds, “Local charities and non-profit organizations are on the front lines delivering support and services to those experiencing the most need. For over six months, charities have been working tirelessly to support their communities, but the reality is, they are struggling with increased demand at the same time as revenues have decreased. The Foundation is very pleased to be able to flow additional emergency funding their way through the ECSF with the intention of supporting good work in our community over the long haul.”
The deadline to apply is October 30th 2020.
Grants can be used for a variety of purposes, including to cover staffing or resource needs, purchase assistance and more.
Charities and community organizations are invited to visit the foundation website for eligibility and application details.
