About 3 thousand people tuned in to Port Elgin’s Pumpkinfest this year.

The winning pumpkin belonged Phil & Jane Hunt and Chris Lyons.
Thier pumpkin weighed in at 1,939.5 lbs nearing their goal of breaking the 2,000 lb mark in Canada.
Organizers say 41 growers arrived to have their giant vegetables measured. They lined up outside the venue with their vegetables on trailers, and went in one at a time to have them weighed one`, in order to maintain physical distancing.
Over $12,500 in prizes were awarded including $3,000 for the largest pumpkin.
A sunflower over six metres tall that reached as high as the arena rafters earned Norman Kyle the title in that category and the heaviest watermelon weighed in at 124.5 lbs.
