It’s not a hoax.
U.S. President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump have tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
Trump revealed the news on twitter this morning, writing “We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!”
Trump is 74 years old, which puts him at higher risk of serious complications from COVID-19.
Trump said he and Melania are now self-quarantining.
The White House physician said the president is expected to continue carrying out his duties “without disruption” while recovering.
Trump has been largely criticized for downplaying the threat of a virus that has killed more than 205,000 Americans.
Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!
