The Province is committing $461 million to give Personal Support Worker’s (PSW’s) a raise.
Today Premier Doug Ford says it will help stabilize the PSW workforce.
“That means that as of October 1st, we’re providing a $3 per hour more, for 50,000 eligible PSW’s in Long Term Care, for 38,000 eligible PSW’s in Home and Community Care and for 34,000 eligible PSW’s in Children, Community and Social Services,” said Ford. “We’re also providing $2 an hour more for 12,300 PSW’s in the public hospitals.”
Ford says today’s funding is a first step that means PSW’s will be there to support loved ones when they are needed.
The move affects over 147,000 PSW’s and will remain in effect until March 2021.
As of October 1st, we are providing a pay rise to our incredible PSWs. PSWs deserve our appreciation and respect. Thank you for everything you do, your dedication is valued by every Ontarian in this province. pic.twitter.com/PmuLScNkKQ
