The United Way of Perth-Huron has elevated their fundraising goal this year, despite a pandemic that has affected household incomes across the two counties.
Officials have announced a fundraising goal of $1,762,200 for the 2020-2021 campaign, more than $129 thousand above the previous year’s target.
Despite a pandemic affecting pocketbooks of local residents, United Way Executive Director Ryan Erb says the organization has seen larger donations from those who are able to give.
A key part of the 2020 UWPH annual campaign is an effort to continue raising money for the Urgent Needs Fund for Individuals (UNFI).
Started during the pandemic, the UNFI supports local residents in a time of crisis by helping with essentials like rent, groceries and medication.
Erb says the LCBO has also launched their “At The Till” campaign, where patrons can donate small amounts in support of the Perth-Huron United Way.
