Ontario has hit a new record for COVID-19 cases.
A total of 700 new cases of the virus have been reported today by public health officials, along with one new death.
It’s the highest daily count ever recorded in Ontario, surpassing the 640 cases confirmed back on April 24.
Of the new cases, roughly three-quarters of them are in the GTA, with Toronto itself is reporting 344 new cases, making up almost half.
Health Minister Christine Elliot says 60% of the new cases involve people under the age of 40.
