The 2020 Families for Autism Golf Day was staged Saturday at Sauble Golf & Country.
The event was well supported by both participants and community businesses.
Stefanie Serenko from Families for Autism stated the day was amazing, both in terms of the number of players that participated plus the level of community support they received through prizes and donations.
Serenko relates the annual tournament was rained out last year, and even with the challenges and restrictions in place due to COVID-19, this year’s event was easier to organize and conduct.
Families for Autism is a comprised of parents, grandparents, educational assistants and others who saw a need within the community and have worked towards making autistic youngsters comfortable both in a learning environment and in their day to day activities.
The funds raised this year from the Golf Day will be utilized to provide local courses for first responders plus acquire communication boards which will be distributed to local parks.
