Starting today, secondary students with the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School board will no longer be allowed to leave school property for lunch.
The decision was made yesterday after the board said, “many students who are going outside for lunch are gathering in close proximity to one another without masks on.”
The board says any student who leaves at lunch will not be allowed back inside the school for the rest of the day and parents notes about lunch absences won’t be accepted.
Meanwhile, a coronavirus case has been reported at Father F.X. O’Reilly Catholic School in Tottenham.
It is the second school under the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board to declare a COVID-19 case.
St. John Vianney Catholic School in Barrie has also confirmed a positive COVID-19 case.
