Federal Health Officials are appealing to young people to help prevent an uncontrollable resurgence of COVID-19.
Dr. Theresa Tam spoke at a news conference this afternoon.
Tam says young people need to adhere to current public health guidelines.
Dr. Tam says if the situation stays as it is, there could be up to 155,795 new cases in Canada by October 2.
The new modelling released today also shows that there could be up to 9300 deaths by October 2.
Also today, the Federal government announced a new deal with pharmaceutical company Sanofi for 72 million doses of its COVID-19 vaccine candidate.
So far, Canada is spending one billion dollars to secure a total of 154 million doses from five drug companies: Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, Novavax and now Sanofi.
