The Province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has closed the case on injuries a man suffered while in a police station cell in Barrie.
The SIU’s Director Joseph Martino says the serious injuries the 27-year-old suffered were self-inflicted when he punched a cell wall following a bail hearing.
The man had initially been arrested on domestic-related charges last month.
He injured his right hand in the cell resulting in three fractures and a dislocation.
The SIU says there’s no criminal liability on the police’s part.
