Grey Bruce OPP have identified the swimmer they found deceased in Lake Huron Tuesday after a search that spanned three days.
Just before 4 Sunday afternoon, (Sept13th) OPP responded to a report of a swimmer in distress, struggling in the waves in Lake Huron south of Sauble Beach at Saugeen First Nation, in an area north of French Bay Road.
On Sunday and Monday police used helicopters, boats and the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU). They also had the help of three surrounding fire departments and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre run by the Royal Canadian Air Force and the Canadian Coast Guard.
On Tuesday September 15th, the Grey Bruce OPP Marine Unit and OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit removed the deceased man from the water.
He has been identified as 29 year old Kevin Costin, from Wellington North.
On Tuesday, emergency responders also began a separate search for a missing wind surfer / paddleboarder in the north end of Sauble Beach by 6th Street. As of early Wednesday afternoon, they had not reported finding anyone.
