There was virtually no lacrosse at any level this Spring and Summer in the city of Owen Sound.
No NorthStar Minor Box Lacrosse, including the annual Owen Sound Father’s Day Weekend Classic .
No Lady NorthStar Field Lacrosse Weekends.
No Junior B NorthStars season.
And nothing for the Owen Sound Bug Juice Senior NorthStars
The Bug Juice squad did issue some news a couple of weeks ago when they announced their year end award winners.
Of course, the year end they were referring to was 2019.
Netminder Garrett Reed was selected as the Regular Season Most Valuable Player while the Playoff MVP was Tyler Carlson
The NorthStars Rookie of the Year award is split.
Brenden Welsh, who along with Shawn Lantz was the team’s top scorer, was the Offensive Rookie of the Year.
The Defensive Rookie of the Year was AJ Skirving.
The Defensive Player of the Year was Wyatt Barfoot.
And the Most Sportsmanlike Player was Nick Quaid.
Also being honoured in various categories were Tanner Brown, Mike MacLeod & Coach & General Manager Keith Peer.
Again, these awards were for 2019.
The hope is there will be awards following a glorious Senior Lacrosse season in 2021.
