South Bruce OPP laid 46 Highway Traffic Act Charges in a Labour Day weekend traffic safety campaign.
In a media release, police say all available members of the South Bruce OPP took part September 4th to 7th, where they focused on distracted driving, aggressive driving, not using a seatbelt and impaired driving.
Police says those are the most common factors in serious injury collisions on OPP patrolled roads.
OPP say five drivers were charged under the stunt driving legislation for excessive speed. That carries an immediate 7-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.
One driver was charged with impaired driving under the Criminal Code.
South Bruce OPP say they want drivers to know while this traffic safety campaign has ended, their officers are committed to traffic safety enforcement and education all year long.
In fact, South Bruce OPP said on Twitter Wednesday (Sept 9th) they charged a 44 year old Markham driver in Kincardine with stunt driving for doing 134/km/h in an 80 zone.
They also tweeted pictures of a separate traffic stop in Brockton where two motorcycles were impounded and a 32 year old Waterloo Region resident as well as 29 year old Waterloo Region resident were charged with stunt driving for doing 146km/h in a 80 zone.
