Today is World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD).
It is held every year so those impacted by a suicide attempt or loss around the world can connect to continue working together to prevent suicide.
Suicide is in the top 10 leading causes of death in Canada.
To mark the occasion, the Simcoe County Suicide Awareness Council will donate its fifth memorial bench and tree at the Adjala-Tosorontio Municipal Centre in Alliston at 11 this morning.
You can also join the Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention tonight at 8 p.m. by lighting a candle in your window to remember all the lives that have been impacted by suicide
